Lizzie’s Quilt is finished

I showed the beginnings of this one a week ago on Design Wall Monday.  I made it as a gift for a dear friend that recently lost her beloved black lab.  You have to have known the friend and the dog to realize what a special relationship this was, and how deeply it affected my friend. I have lots of dog crazy friends who treasure their dogs, but this was a particularly precious relationship.  Here is the  quilt, which I finished and delivered today.  The front:

The backing fabric, and if you click on the photo, you can see the quilting, which was a ball and a bone.

Yes, she really loved it, but I think she was most amazed that anyone would think to do something like this for her. She doesn’t realize how much she is loved by her friends.

I have quite a few dog loving friends myself and love your dog quilt. It must mean a lot to your friend and isn't that just the best feeling? What a neat bone- ball quilting - have never seen it before.

What a wonderfully thoughtful gift! I never understood, even owning several dogs, how a relationship could be so special but have to say I do now. 2 mo. affter owning one of my current pups and I felt immediately I'd be heartbroken if anything ever happened to her. I'm so glad you reached out to your friend like this, you are a good friend.

What a nice remembrance for your friend. I've done photo quilts in the past and I struggle to find a setting that doesn't take away from the images. The one you used is very nice, simply highlighting the photos without adding extra clutter.

This was so wonderful of you to do. I'm sure NN loved it. It is beautiful and so are you.

Oh, Gail, my mind still isn't right--I didn't think to look on your blog! I've been trying to figure out how to take a picture of the quilt to put on the site and I see you already figured it out. Could you send me a copy or would you post it for me? I couldn't get it straight enough so I could see the writing--that's one reason I want to use it as a hanging. I'm going to see if Susan is tall enough to hold it up, later.

I just could not believe that you would memorialize Lizzie as you did. You have no idea how much it means...geez, I'm in tears, AGAIN!!! Jack and I miss her so much and I keep thinking I see her, hear her, etc.

She was a wonderful dog, and I appreciate from the bottom of my heart what you did for her and for me.

Glad you liked the stamps. I think I bought them at Zazzle, but I'm not sure.

Again, the quilt was the most thoughtful gift I've ever received--I just don't have the words, my friend.
